An Outdoor Furniture Storage Plan Before You Buy

Prepared by WEHOMZ, an online furniture retailer. This worksheet helps households compare furniture with their actual storage space. It is not a weather-resistance test, an engineering assessment, or a promise that any particular product can remain outdoors indefinitely.

Outdoor furniture occupies two spaces: the place where you use it and the place where you keep it when it is not in use. A balcony chair may fit comfortably beside a table in summer but become awkward when cushions, covers and folding pieces need to move indoors. Sketch both situations before deciding what to buy.

1. Describe your storage season

Write down when the area is usually used and what happens during rain, strong wind, long absences or winter. Read the actual product care instructions rather than assuming that the word “outdoor” settles every maintenance question. Record which parts the supplier says to store, cover or clean, and ask about any instruction you cannot interpret.

2. Measure the storage opening

Measure the clear opening into the proposed storage location, including the position of a door when it is open. Then measure available floor width, depth and height. Identify shelves, pipes and equipment that already occupy that space. An empty room measurement is not a measurement of usable storage.

For a folding or stackable item, request its folded dimensions or the height of the intended stack. Do not calculate a stack by multiplying seat height: legs, armrests and stacking stops may change the result. Keep an explicit “not supplied” entry until the seller confirms the figure.

3. Follow the moving route

Trace the route from patio or balcony to storage. Note corners, door handles and stairs. Confirm the product weight and whether disassembly is allowed. If a person would need to lift something awkward, arrange an appropriate moving method rather than improvising during bad weather. Keep exits clear in both the use layout and the storage layout.

4. Give accessories their own row

Cushions, covers and a folded parasol need space too. Consult care instructions before sealing anything into a container, especially when items are damp. Keep the product information with the stored parts so that reassembly and maintenance requirements remain available next season.

Item In-use dimensions Stored dimensions Weight Care requirement Missing answer
Chair or bench ___ ___ ___ ___ ___
Table ___ ___ ___ ___ ___
Cushions and cover ___ ___ ___ ___ ___

5. Compare with evidence

When comparing the WEHOMZ outdoor furniture collection, use the specifications and care information for the exact item under consideration. Verify unanswered folded-size, weight or maintenance questions before purchase. Treat a photograph as a styling reference; it cannot establish whether an item will fit through your storage door or withstand your local conditions.

The finished plan should identify a usable outdoor arrangement, a clear moving route and a realistic storage location. If any one remains uncertain, that uncertainty belongs in the comparison before the order is placed.
